Share the school run, share your costs

Information for schools

kentschoolrun provides a free service to parents, enabling them to find other parents with whom to share the school run.

It doesn't matter whether parents want their children to be driven to school, to walk, or cycle - our software will match them with other parents who are travelling the same way, ensuring that every child is accompanied to school.

What are the benefits for your school?

  • Less congestion around your school
  • Less risk of road accidents due to fewer parked cars and increased visibility for children
  • Encouraging parental involvement in the school community
  • Less impact of traffic and parking on local residents
  • Increases travel choice and reduces travel costs for parents
  • Reduces pollution
  • Helps deliver school travel plan objectives by reducing the number of car journeys made to your school
  • Increases number of children walking and cycling to school

How do we join the scheme?

The Headteacher will need to register the school. Parents will then need to register their journeys and enter their details securely

Find out more about setting up a school-run scheme for your school.

How much would it cost our school to join?

The first 100 schools register free. Schools joining after this pay only a £100 annual license fee.

Our schemes are Safe and Secure as well as entirely flexible, and can be adapted to meet your particular needs and those of your parents.

To find out more go to About kentschoolrun and the FAQ pages.

kentschoolrun is part of the New Ways to School initiative promoted by KCC’s School Travel Planners which encourages schools to develop travel plans aimed at reducing car dependency on the journey to school.
